The Peugeot 505 was on sale in Australia from 1980 to 1993, being available in both 4-door sedan and 5-door wagon up to 1989, and thereafter only available as a 5-door wagon until 1993.
Initially Leyland Australia, later JRA Limited assembled complete knock down (CKD) kits at their Pressed Metal Corporation (PMC) facility at Enfield, New South Wales between 1981 and 1983. After 1983, the Peugeot 505 was imported as CBU (completely built up) from France.
The Peugeot 505 was replaced by the 405 model range, by which time importation and distribution was handled by Peugeot Concessionaires Australia.
Information on Australian assembly and distribution of the Peugeot 505 model range is included in this website as it coincides with sales and distribution of Rover and Land-Rover models, including some shared body colours as a result of PMC assembly.
